When genkernel updates the grub configuration, it is putting bzImage as the kernel option. When I tried to load the new kernel, I got a kernel panic saying 'kernel is to old'. I tried this with .24 and a .23 Gentoo sources release. Turns out bzImage was from 2003, and this was causing the problem. Shouldn't genkernel set the kernel option to the kernel file that was generated by the compile? Reproducible: Always
You're going to have to give us more details here. I have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. Also, please attach the grub.conf that it generated.
Please list the exact command that you passed to genkernel, also.
Please reopen this if you can provide us with more information.
