Description Dolores 2008-04-08 14:23:04 UTC
Met with the same problem with dev-perl/gtk2-perl-1.182 though not in the previous version.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #212605 +++

When trying to emerge gtk2-perl it blocks with this error :

Glib is correctly installed I think :
emerge -s dev-libs/glib

*  dev-libs/glib
      Latest version available: 2.14.6
      Latest version installed: 2.14.6
      Size of files: 3,326 kB
      Homepage:      http://www.gtk.org/
      Description: The GLib library of C routines
      License:       LGPL-2

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge glib (glib version 2.14.6 will be build)
2. emerge gtk2-perl
3. watch the result

Actual Results:
It tells me that glib is not installed but in fact it is or though I thought

Expected Results:
It should compile without an error

Comment 1 Dolores 2008-04-08 14:34:17 UTC
OK it depends on dev-perl/glib-perl>=1.180

But should the dependency be clearer?

At least for gtk2-perl-1.145 it does

>=x11-libs/gtk+-2
dev-perl/Cairo
>=dev-perl/glib-perl-1.140
>=dev-perl/extutils-depends-0.205
>=dev-perl/extutils-pkgconfig-1.07
dev-lang/perl
Comment 2 DrChandra the Gentoo Person 2008-04-08 14:51:00 UTC
Somehow that dependency isn't effective. I had glib-perl-1.144, and gtk2-perl failed to cause it to upgrade during an "emerge -NuDav world". I emerged glib-perl manually, and then gtk2-perl-1.182 emerged without a problem. It's funny that emerge -NuDav world didn't catch the glib-perl upgrade, but that's another matter.

The problem appears to be a typo. RDEPEND is missing it 'R' :

DEPEND=">=x11-libs/gtk+-2
	dev-perl/Cairo
	>=dev-perl/glib-perl-1.180
	dev-lang/perl"
DEPEND="${RDEPEND}
	>=dev-perl/extutils-depends-0.300
	>=dev-perl/extutils-pkgconfig-1.030"

Comment 3 Torsten Veller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-08 14:54:51 UTC
My fault. I wanted to split them in build- and runtime-dependencies (DEPEND vs RDEPEND) but missed an R. So the main part of the dependencies was hidden.

Already fixed.
Sorry.
