When I run passwd as a normal user I get the following error: passwd[15714]: pam_unix(passwd:chauthtok): authentication failure; logname= uid=1000 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= user=sebastian passwd[15714]: pam_unix(passwd:chauthtok): user password changed by another process Changing as root works fine. This seems to happen irregardless of USE-flag settings or settings in /etc/pam.d. I have tracked the error to upstream revision 1.325. The attached patch reverses that commit and makes passwd work again for normal users. Perhaps this should be reported upstream?
