Description Bernd Martin Wollny 2003-05-25 05:37:09 UTC
Hello,

This Bug depends on BUG #20746. Sorry I don't know howto make a exact
link/reference to a other BUG.

Since portage 2.0.48_pre5 there are a feature for binarie packages.
This Feature writing sometimes garbled Message on the Screen.

Performing Global Updates: /usr/portage/profiles/updates/1Q-2003 .... and so on

I try to write some scripts using emerge. The script output always break down by
this garbled messages.

I try to add/remove the "fixpackages" to make.conf but it didn't solve the
problem. This garbled Message appears some times.
It will be OK if this grabled apears after a rsync but not while I try to
emerge a package.

bye
  bernd

It's directed to stderr now. So as long as you ignore stderr (or disregard this paricular output) you should be fine.

It's a status screen. It can be a rather long process and I don't want
people getting confused and killing portage... So I give them something
to look at.
