All sane file managers (nautils-2.20, konqueror, and even windows explorer) preserve timestamps when copying files. Nautilus-2.22 doesn't. This makes nautilus-2.22 almost unusable as a file manager, because when you are copying files to/from removable media or to other machines on the network, preserving timestamps is extremely important. I have also submitted this bug upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=526390
Created attachment 148789 [details, diff] nautilus-2.22.1-preserve-metadata.patch Patch to preserve timestamps on the nautilus end of things (also submitted upstream). Note, however, that this does not fix the problem for many types of network transfer, because gvfs hasn't implemented any support for preserving metadata on copy for a number of backends.
commited in 2.22.3-r1
