checking for EXTRA_GNOME... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.13.4 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.12.6 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.3.3 gnome-vfs-2.0 >= 2.16.0 gnome-vfs-module-2.0 >= 2.16.0 libgnome-2.0 >= 2.14.0  gnome-icon-theme >= 2.15.90 gmodule-2.0 totem-plparser >= 2.21.90 iso-codes gstreamer-0.10 >= 0.10.12 gstreamer-base-0.10 >= 0.10.12 gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10 >= 0.10.12 gconf-2.0) were not met:

No package 'totem-plparser' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables EXTRA_GNOME_CFLAGS
and EXTRA_GNOME_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Reproducible: Always

# emerge totem -pv

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Re-emerged dev-libs/totem-pl-parser-2.22.1, then emerged media-video/totem-2.22.0, and it's building now.

Sorry for the noise, perhaps this will help others with similar upgrade glitches.
Comment 6 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2008-04-05 00:44:55 UTC
There is no upgrade glitch. totem hard depends on totem-pl-parser. There is no emerging totem unless you use --nodeps or your system is broken in some other means out of our control.
I hope you aren't trying to get around the blockers with --nodeps and upgrading totem, while ignoring the block that tells you that totem-pl-parser can't get installed with old totem still present....
At any rate this is invalid, as far as the gnome team is concerned.

I see you didn't have --nodeps in your command line in the paste of emerge -pv totem. Check it's not in EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS either in make.conf

^^ I meant "There is no emerging totem _without totem-pl-parser installed_ unless you use ...", whoops.
