Description Vince C. 2008-04-02 07:07:58 UTC
Previous releases of Gentoo LiveCDs prompted a keyboard selection table while booting. This one is not.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot with 2008.0 beta
Actual Results:
No keymap selection.

Expected Results:
A prompt with a keymap selection table, like previous Gentoo releases.

command loadkeys <e.g. be-latin1> must be issued after boot completes.

Which ISO did you download?

Nevermind, I found it. It looks like this got broken back in r606 with the introduction of --no-keymap for bug 210886. This is fixed in SVN, and will be in the next genkernel release and 2008.0_beta2

Lol :-) This is me who actually wanted that functionality... Hope you'll keep it in genkernel.

Yes, it will stay in genkernel. It's just that the fix for that bug introduced another one where there was no way to turn on the inclusion of the keymap files without having dokeymap automatically activated. I just set the default for that to true, so it's on by default (without automatically triggering dokeymap), but it can be disabled with --no-keymap.

Fine, thanks Andrew.

I got a report on IRC that this is still non-functional in 3.4.10_pre9.
Comment 8 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-22 15:22:14 UTC
I think this is fixed now in SVN...
Comment 9 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-24 18:16:32 UTC
Apparently not...

I've updated this in SVN now, but it won't make it for 2008.0 Beta 2, unfortunately.

Well, as long as it does for the final release ;-) .

OK. This is resolved in genkernel 3.4.10, which is now in the tree and stable.
