I get the following error during the configure process: checking for gucharmap >= 0.4... Package gucharmap was not found in the pkg-config search path. I've re-emerged xfree and that fixed all my xft problems. But a gucharmap ebuild is missing from portage and keeping abiword from compiling.
hmm gucharmap is optional, it shouldn't make it fail. Can you give attach configure output and configure.log .
Well......I've been updating my box all this time and I decided to give abiword another try after getting your message. This time it configured ok. Don't know what was wrong because it didn't configure before, even after I recompiled xfree to fix my xft problems. Oh well...........Thanks!
non reproducable, closing.
