Comment 4 Thomas Beutin 2008-04-01 15:54:34 UTC
I've read http://dev.gentoo.org/~aballier/migrationhowto.xml:

- "texmf-update" doesn't helps
- output of"kpsewhich --var-value=TEXMFMAIN" is "/usr/share/texmf"

i've two other machines (same architecture) without this problem, but on one machine (where tetex-2 and -3 has been installed) emerge fails gracefully :(

Any help/hint appreciated!

kpathsea seems seriously broken on your system, it doesn't want to find anything, could you please attach the file /usr/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf and give me the output of a ls -l on it ?

weird, your configuration is perfectly sane.
Just in case, whats the output of :
ldd /usr/bin/kpsewhich

and does rebuilding texlive-core helps by chance ?

i did this and the recompilation of texlive-core simultaneously and now texlive-latex and all the other package depended by texlive installed smoothly.

Thank You very much!
