Description Kbird 2002-04-27 11:28:16 UTC
when receiving a call, mgetty looks for login.config. I get the error
login: stat('/usr/local/etc/mgetty+sendfax/login.config') failed: No such file or directory
emerge net-dialup/mgetty puts this file in /usr/local/mgetty+sendfax.
I recompiled manually, (and used -DAUTO_PPP and prefix=/usr) and all is well

for some reason this wants to install tetex (~35MB) which i
can't download right now (ISDN - takes forever)

so, i won't be able to handle this one, sorry

ebuilds are not supposed to even touch /usr/local, so this is a bad thing in
general. However, when I do qpkg -f /usr/local, mgetty does not show up. I do
not see mgetty+sendfax in any directory except /etc.

Perhaps you might provide some more detail?
Comment 3 Kbird 2002-04-30 19:44:03 UTC
Yes, that is the problem, mgetty (as installed) creates the default files in /etc/mgetty+sendfax,
but when the application executes (receives a call) the application looks in /usr/local/etc/mgetty+sendfax
for the configuration files. They are not there. They were created in /etc/mgetty+sendfax.
There are configuration parameters in the Makefile for where the application looks for the configuration
files.

Please try the -r4 ebuild and see if that sorts this. It was the only mention
left of /usr/local anything in any of the compile time configurations...

Well, did the new -r4 ebuild behave as you expected it to?

What's news on this, Keith? Problem solved?

Closing this bug report, as I have had no report for over 2 weeks on its breakages.
