Description Sven Müller 2008-03-31 10:39:00 UTC
When starting the service of openafs-client-1.4.7_pre1 I get the kernel oops. Downgrading to version 1.4.6_p20080222 helps. That version works flawless here.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start the openafs-service (as a client)

I don't have any ideas straight away, except for the patch mentioned by Marc in bug #207882. So, I've just put 1.4.7_pre2 (only just released) in the tree. It would be great if you could see if it fixes your problem.
(It should appear on mirrors soon, if you're impatient you can easily version bump it yourself)

Thanks

I've reproduced the error with openafs-1.4.7_pre1 and a 2.6.24-gentoo-r3 kernel (same versions as reported), though on my amd64 machine.
Upgrading to openafs-1.4.7_pre2 seems to result in a starting client, but hangs whenever I try to access a file (not a directory).

The hangs seem to be fixed in openafs-kernel-1.4.7_pre2-r1
Comment 6 Sven Müller 2008-04-04 19:19:32 UTC
I tried it and it worked. At least for me there's no reason to keep the bug open.
