Could you try to remerge with MAKEOPTS="-j1"?

That seems to fix it
Comment 3 MATSUU Takuto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-03 16:24:09 UTC
Added -j1. close
Comment 4 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-08-28 11:07:05 UTC
It doesn't seem to be parallel-make related, I just built w3m with the same USE flags on a 8-core systems and -j8 and it's fine.

Can you please drop the -j1? It's crippling the build on multicore systems.
Comment 5 MATSUU Takuto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-05 03:47:34 UTC
Nop.

# FEATURES="-ccache" MAKEOPTS="-j8" emerge w3m

it fails to emerge sometimes, not always on my env.
Please reopen if you have a patch to fix the issue. I tried unsuccessful to fix it.
