Description vah 2008-03-24 21:28:14 UTC
From homepage:
"sK1 is an open source vector graphics editor similar to CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, or Freehand.
First of all sK1 is oriented for PostScript processing."

Current version is raw enough, but project has healthy derivative and good import features...

(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug)
'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached
to this bug.
This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the
main tree.
Heuristics show that no Gentoo developer has commented on your ebuild.

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us.
We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time.

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Jeremy.

new ebuild

Removed gnome dep, migrated to eapi2, fixed deps, added kde and gnome use flags.
Comment 5 Carl Michal 2009-10-20 21:23:21 UTC
What's not said anywhere here is that sK1 is replacing skencil (formerly sketch) in other distributions. skencil appears to have been dormant for a couple of years, and doesn't work with tcl/tk 8.5.

sK1 started as a fork of skencil.

lists that Gentoo is quite lagging in providing this package. ;-)

And who is Gentoo? Right! We are Gentoo. You, me, all others. And guess what if none is posting a new Ebuild here (including you) what is happening? Right! We are lagging.

sk1-0.9.1.ebuild

Updated ebuild to download newer pre-release of 0.9.1. Because the binary installs as sk1 instead of sK1 I propose lowercasing the package name. Another reason is that sk1libs are in lower-case on the source website.

Required libs.
Comment 10 Martin Mokrejš 2010-04-01 13:18:14 UTC
The sk1-0.9.1.ebuild requires the libs package now. Although the package requires python 2.4 it was happy with my 2.6 version. It installed and runs on my ~x86 and can import .cdr files.

Hanno, since you are media-gfx/skencil maintainer, probably you'll look at this. As per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skencil and other sources skencil upstream is more dead then alive and sK1 is its successor I think it's good idea to add it to the tree, stabilize and pkg move skencil to sk1. What do you think?
Comment 14 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-05-21 07:42:04 UTC
Nikoli, why do you use _p in version instead of _pre?

Also MY_PV MY_PN and MY_P are really not intuitive (in sk1 ebuild)... In general it's better to follow MY_P=${MY_PV}-${MY_PN} convention and if you need something different for S just set it as needed.
Comment 15 Nikoli 2010-05-28 11:49:38 UTC
>why do you use _p in version instead of _pre?

I tested other variants, all they are much complex and make ebuild bigger.

*bump* Any progress on this useful package?
Comment 20 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-24 05:46:08 UTC
Nikoli, any updates? I'll add this package to the tree is you wish to maintain it :)
Comment 21 Nikoli 2011-05-24 07:40:36 UTC
Latest version now is "0.9.1 prerelease2", was waiting for release, but it seems to be delayed.

Last commit was 7 weeks ago http://sk1.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/sk1/trunk/sk1-1.x/

Will try to ask upstream about their plans.

You could also commit it under the graphics herd and I can help maintain it.
Comment 23 Faustus 2011-07-04 11:43:34 UTC
Hi, maybe just add prerelease2?
Comment 24 Ulrich Plate 2011-07-04 19:32:18 UTC
FYI:

 * "/usr/local/portage/media-gfx/sk1/sk1-0.9.1_p905.ebuild":
 * Deprecation Warning: Usage of distutils.eclass in packages not supporting installation
 * for multiple Python ABIs in EAPI <=2 is deprecated and will be banned on 2011-06-01.
 * The ebuild needs to be fixed. Please report a bug, if it has not been already reported.

It would be great to have an ebuild upgrade!
