Description Alexander Skwar 2008-03-22 19:28:10 UTC
Trying to compile gcc with these USE flags:

[ebuild R ] sys-devel/gcc-4.2.3 USE="(-altivec) -bootstrap -build -doc -fortran gcj* -gtk (-hardened) -ip28 -ip32r10k -libffi mudflap (-multilib) -multislot (-n32) (-n64) nls -nocxx -objc -objc++ -objc-gc -openmp -test -vanilla" 0 kB

I already had gcc-4.2.3 on this system installed and now would like to get gcj; that's why I tried to recompile gcc.

There's no error visible anywhere; try w/ MAKEOPTS="-j1" and see if you get something more useful.

I know. That's why I don't understand why it failed.

Hm. MAKEOPTS isn't set. This is a uniprocessor system. Isn't -j1 the default?

Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-12-07 20:25:20 UTC
the problem is the build system sends error output to /dev/null

does the issue still happen with gcc-4.3.2 ?

and no, the default MAKEOPTS is -j2 ...
