We would like to be a new full mirror for gentoo. We rsync'd the server with the ftp on the mirror documentation and set up a crontab to update it every 4 hours, the mirror is accessible via HTTP and FTP. http://gentoo.fiber-hosting.com and ftp://gentoo.fiber-hosting.com The server is on a gigabit uplink and its running Hardened Gentoo. Reproducible: Always For more information about Fiber Hosting LLC please check http://www.fiber-hosting.com , if you have any questions please contact juan@fiber-hosting.com or jlsn @ irc.freenode.org

Stop hounding us about the bug. 15:42 < fox2mike> jlsn: we all work on our free time, so things take time. Please stop asking, there will be an update to the bug when there is an update 15:45 < jlsn> happy easter to you too mike :) 15:52 < astinus> jlsn: you fail, anyway 15:52 < astinus> Sun, 23 Mar 2008 08:08:11 +0000 15:52 < astinus> its now 15:52 GMT 15:52 < astinus> which means its not syncing every four hours. 15:52 ~~~ astinus chuckles 16:01 < jlsn> astinus: you ever get laid? why are you hating? im just trying to help out with a new mirror and im told 'you fail' ? nice attitude. 16:01 < jlsn> *sigh*. fail. lol, it looks like you guys got a hater on board, we might as well go mirror freebsd or something. You dont need a new mirror anyway. 16:01 ||| jlsn i=phreek@PROMETHEUS.ASGARD.SC has left #gentoo-mirrors "Leaving" 16:02 < astinus> wow, someone doesn't take tongue-in-cheek very well The new mirror is appreciated, but please bear in mind up until 2-3 weeks ago the wait time to be added was *months* -- we're a volunteer effort, we cannot move heaven and earth and make things happen in ~24 hours usually. Plus if there's no laughter and comedy, where's the motivation? I'll resolve this as LATER: if you do decide to keep mirroring Gentoo Linux then please make sure it's syncing every four hours -- using something like 'rsync.de.gentoo.org' is a good bet as they're pretty fast and up-to-date. Kind Regards, Alex
hi, if you like to you can check it again, i wasn't syncing the portage tree, just the distfiles, releases, snapshots, exp. stuff. i added a /gentoo-portage directory and /gentoo where its syncing the portage tree now and the rest of the things. Also providing rsync access to them. My apologies for flipping out earlier. Thanks Juan

This is not a critical issue. And you'll have to wait, since there are other mirrors before yours, until some weeks ago there was some bugs from august. Please note that i can't do anything, i'm just telling you that you'll have to wait a lot.
http://gentoo.fiber-hosting.com/gentoo/distfiles/timestamp.chk Time on the server: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 08:08:09 +0000 Time when I checked: Mon Mar 31 14:44:19 BST 2008 http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/source_mirrors.xml << suggests that mirrors must be updated every four hours -- please could you check your cron jobs for me? The problem before wasn't that you don't have gentoo-portage, rather that the mirror is not syncing every 4 hours as required; if you want to mirror gentoo-portage too that'd be fantastic, that needs to sync every 30 minutes though! http://gentoo.fiber-hosting.com/gentoo-portage/metadata/timestamp.chk Time on the server: Sun, 30 Mar 2008 17:15:01 +0000 Warm Regards, Alex
(In reply to comment #5) > http://gentoo.fiber-hosting.com/gentoo/distfiles/timestamp.chk > > Time on the server: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 08:08:09 +0000 > Time when I checked: Mon Mar 31 14:44:19 BST 2008 Okay, this one definitely needs fixing. > http://gentoo.fiber-hosting.com/gentoo-portage/metadata/timestamp.chk > Time on the server: Sun, 30 Mar 2008 17:15:01 +0000 and this one is rsync1.us having a bad hair day :) Drop a note when you've had a chance to look at the first issue and I'll perform a couple more timestamp.chk verifications before adding you.
Alex, Hi, thanks for checking out the server. I'm using rsync.de.gentoo.org for gentoo-portage and distro.ibiblio.org for gentoo tree. I believe i've fixed the cron jobs to run as required for both sync's. Please run some more checks and let me know. Regards, Juan
Alex, one more thing... i dont know if it matters, but the server's timezone is set to EST. Thanks
