Description Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-03-19 08:12:05 UTC
When i use tuxonice-sources i can't enable
Device Drivers  --->
        Misc devices  --->
                Asus Laptop Extras (EXPERIMENTAL)
(because it is not there)
if i revert to gentoo-sources i had to insert line to config manualy and run make oldconfig and then it was there (if i use clear config on gentoo-sources it is there).
Currently don't have any tuxonice-sources so if somebody try to do it with that make oldconfig it would be nice.
I think this option is really needed for all people with asus laptops.

Reproducible: Always

In menuconfig, type

/ASUS_LAPTOP

and press enter. Don't use make oldconfig between different kernel versions and different patchsets.

well, yes, with /asus_laptop i can find it, but there is no possibility to check it somewhere in the Misc devices section.

btw, i'm on 2.6.24-gentoo-r3 and the menu item is not available in both x86(!) and amd64 stable kernel releases.

forget it, CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL=n was set. changing to CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL=y did it for me on amd64. x86 still has no menu item. Sorry 4 the inconvenience!
