I have run depscan.sh by hand and it does not create /usr/lib/init.d/deptree.  
I installed from 1.4_r1 downloaded from the indiana mirror.
I installed twice to see if it was an oversight durring installation.

I ran into other errors on install:

     1. Missing make.conf
     2. gcc wouldn't run after sourcing /etc/profile

These are both reported bugs and I was able to work around.

could you please be more verbose? and give some version numeber and system info please=)

1.4_r1, or _r6? I didn't think the missing make.conf and bunk gcc profile bugs occurred in any older version.
