Description Eric Krout 2002-04-26 17:44:30 UTC
Myself and many others in the #gentoo channel on IRC have noticed that XMMS fails to load for some
folks after it's emerge'd.

$ xmms
fs seg 0x40017000
Available CPU flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr
syscall mmxext 3dnowext 3dnow
1396.043000 MHz AMD Athlon(tm) processor processor detected

Segmentation fault

hm
this used to happen to me
before I fixed the perms on the audio devices
as per instructions in the desktop guide

Eric: Check out the suggestion here; you weren't on the CC so I just added you.

Eric: if the permissions don't fix the problem, what sound card are you using?
