Description Vitaly 2008-03-17 11:21:16 UTC
Hi, Nagios 3.0 (stable) has been just released out on 03/13/2008, can you please
include ebuild for it?
Comment 1 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-03-17 21:49:11 UTC
*sigh* ... yeah, i'm aware of nagios-3 being "just" released ... you can find ebuilds in my dev-overlay ... just 'layman -a dertobi123' and emerge it.

3.0.1 is out ;)

3.0 and latest nrpe and plugins -r101 from
dertobi123's overlay working fine for me so far...
Comment 3 Wolfram Schlich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-06 14:46:18 UTC
As the jump from 2.x to 3.x will bring some bigger changes (for example
the plugin path changing from /usr/nagios/libexec to /usr/lib/nagios/plugins),
a user upgrading from 2.x (has_version ...) should be informed that he needs
to take care of these changes in order to make his setup actually work after
the upgrade. The mail-mta/postfix ebuild does this in an easy but sufficient
way, I believe -- see pkg_setup() of any recent postfix ebuild.

I just installed it from the overlay on a fresh system. I noticed one problem right off the bat: /var/nagios is owned by root:root and has 755 permissions. This prevents the nagios daemon from creating the /var/nagios/objects.cache file.

Hi,

The nagios-plugins ebuild in your overlay fails to build for me. The "unpack" stage fails with the following error message:

configure.in:44: error: AC_REQUIRE: circular dependency of AC_GNU_SOURCE
gl/m4/extensions.m4:19: AC_USE_SYSTEM_EXTENSIONS is expanded from...
../../lib/autoconf/specific.m4:331: AC_GNU_SOURCE is expanded from...
gl/m4/gnulib-comp.m4:21: gl_EARLY is expanded from...
configure.in:44: the top level
autom4te-2.62: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 1
aclocal-1.9: autom4te failed with exit status: 1

That's related to autoconf-2.62 and also affects the stable 1.4.11 ebuild in our main tree. That's fixed in both 1.4.11-r1 and 1.4.11-r102 in my overlay.

This is fixed in CVS now. Note that nagios-3 ebuilds are still p.masked.

Is this going to be changed to ~arch any time soon?
