Description Juergen Rose 2008-03-14 18:30:17 UTC
I try to print inside xdvi a file vl5.dvi to the file vl5.ps with Dvips Options: -t landscape -R0.
First I get the Question:
vl5.ps already exist. Do you want to replace it?
I select "Replace"
Xdvi crashes with:

xdvi-motif.bin 22.84.10 (Motif toolkit): events.c:4144: Shouldn't happen: Segmentation fault - trying to clean up and aborting ...
Nevertheless a new vl5.ps is created

If I call 'dvips -t landscape vl5.dvi -o vl5.ps' form command line, everything works without error.

Reproducible: Always

Installed is xdvik-22.84.10 belonging to texlive.
'emerge -pvD xdvik texlive' says:
root@grizzly:/root(2)# emerge -pvD xdvik texlive

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Please reopen with emerge --info and a backtrace:

I set
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=k8 -O2 -ggdb"
FEATURES="fixpackages nostrip noclean"
in /etc/make.conf and emerged once more app-text/xdvik-22.84.10. Then I did
rose@grizzly:/home/rose/Txt/src/Test/TeX(35)$ gdb xdvi-motif.bin
...
This GDB was configured as "x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"...
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1".
(gdb) set args -name xdvi seminar_test_2.dvi
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/bin/xdvi-motif.bin -name xdvi seminar_test_2.dvi

(gdb) set logging off

(gdb) quit
The program is running. Exit anyway? (y or n) y

In backtrace.log are the same information as in lines #0 - #6 above. Then called again dvips:
rose@grizzly:/home/rose/Txt/src/Test/TeX(36)$ dvips -t landscape -R0 -o seminar_test_2.ps seminar_test_2.dvi
This is dvips(k) 5.96 Copyright 2005 Radical Eye Software (www.radicaleye.com)

rose@grizzly:/home/rose/Txt/src/Test/TeX(37)$ echo $?

On a second I386 system with similar configuration and history xdvi works without errors.
