Description Tim Redman 2008-03-14 03:04:11 UTC
In only one particular window I've seen so far, widgets are missing one dialog box, and most of the remaining widgets are inoperative.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

I have a somewhat unusual configuration, involving masked packages, so I don't know how much of this is my setup.

I run two different configurations for Xorg, both started from startx (kdm/xdm is not involved). One is a single screen with Compiz Fusion, which I do my normal everyday surfing on. The second is a dual-monitor setup with Xinerama for the web development that I do. Both use the proprietary nVidia driver for the primary monitor, and the dual-monitor configuration uses the nv driver from Xorg for the secondary.

The problem appears when I start up Quanta. Either by using the mouse or a keyboard shortcut, if I go to upload the project, I get an incomplete and semi-functioning dialog in single-monitor (attached as upload_project_file_bad.png), and fully functional normal one in dual-monitor (attached as upload_project_file_good.png). Both versions use the current unmasked versions of KDE and Quanta. When Quanta is run from the command line, no errors are generated when the incomplete dialog appears.

This is not a showstopper for me, since I do all of my work in Quanta in dual-monitor mode anyway, but I wanted to make the Fusion maintainers aware of this in case it points to a larger problem.

The following keyword-masked Compiz software is installed:

Good Upload Project Files dialog

This is how the Upload Project Files dialog appears in dual-monitor Xorg, using Xinerama.

Bad Upload Project Files dialog

This is how the Upload Project Files dialog looks in single-monitor mode, using Compiz Fusion. No errors are generated at the console.

compiz != KDE
Comment 4 Tim Redman 2008-03-16 09:05:56 UTC
It was a judgment call, since the only program I've found that demonstrates problems is a KDE app.

Obviously, my judgment was wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.
Comment 5 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2008-11-02 04:27:34 UTC
This could be a config or use flag issue. Did you enable svg support in compiz?
Anyway, try the new compiz-0.7.8.
Comment 6 Tim Redman 2008-11-03 14:54:49 UTC
It's difficult for me to reliably test now. I've just moved to a new system, which uses an ATI chipset instead of nVidia. Any influence that the video driver might have had on this become non-reproducible. However, I'll try to fire it up under the new computer anyway, and see if the problem crops up with a newer version of compiz.

If someone else his this, please reopen the bug.
As it works for me and there has been no more reports, I'm closing it as WORKSFORME.
