Started installation off of the 2007.0 LiveCD clicking on the Gentoo Linux Installation (GTK+) icon. Run everything with defaults, including Basic, not Advanced Installation. Set Password to a chosen PW, and Timezone to NY Eastern. After all is completed, using all suggested defaults, I get a failed installation message, and there is no log in the /tmp directory, as reported by Gentoo. Used OSUOSL.org for Stage3 release and portage-current.

I am using a P4 630 3.0Ghz CPU, 2Gb RAM, WD 250Gb IDE Hard Disc, and an Nvidia 760GS video card.

Can someone explain to me why this repeatedly fails???

No, not really unless you provide the required logs.
