Description Markus Duft (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-03-11 13:56:44 UTC
i didn't manage to build Xaw3d, since it calls makedepend. it worked as soon as i added a depenency to makedepend

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. build Xaw3d without makedepend installed.

Actual Results:
build breaks because makedepend is not found.

I vaguely recall I had the same issue when upgrading on some system that I didn't trust to be completely sane...

On Gentoo Linux:

(stable-amd64-chroot) JOlaptop / # emerge -pv makedepend Xaw3d

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild N ] x11-misc/makedepend-1.0.1 USE="-debug" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] x11-libs/Xaw3d-1.5-r1 0 kB

Total: 2 packages (1 new, 1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB
(stable-amd64-chroot) JOlaptop / # makedepend
bash: makedepend: command not found
(stable-amd64-chroot) JOlaptop / #

Removing x11@g.o until a conclusion has been reached, perhaps this is a specific host problem.

I recently installed Xaw3d on OpenSolaris and encountered a lot of problems, but not this one, IIRC. So please reopen if there is more info on why it needs it on Interix.
