See summary. Compiled and tested with qt-gui-4.4.0_beta1, didn't spot any problems.

Please note, that >=x11-libs/qt-4.3:4 might not be the best solution, since there currently is still a "meta" ebuild x11-libs/qt-4.4.
Hopefully that will get pruned.
