When opening a new tab, you should have full control of the webpage, which you don't (you can't type anything in the textbox). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set your homepage to http://www.google.com/ (though it works with all pages). 2. Open a new tab (Ctrl+T). 3. Attempt to type a query string in the textbox. Actual Results: I could not focus the textbox. Expected Results: Allowed me to type in and send my query. what version of galeon and mozilla?
I've seen the same problem... If you look the status bar, it seems that galeon puts him self in a regexp search mode, that will look for a string directly on the page you're in... Simply click in the google search textbox for example and then click again on the page, and it will work just fine... I don't think this is a ebuild problem... For me it's rather a galeon bug... If someone can make it follow up...
bugreporter, can you confirm whether "type ahead find" might be affecting your galeon/mozilla? and also what the version for both are. is this the gtk1/gtk2 version of galeon? nuno, it is possible that that it might be the type-ahead-find, but at least under epiphany you can still focus on form elements if it is under that mode.
well, reopen this please when you have more information.
