In system with enabled FramBuffer and splash boot'ing , and in system installed bootsplash 
package. When you booted with fb and splash image on background  you can freeze console by: 
$ echo "off" > /proc/splash 
$ /sbin/splash -s -u 0 /etc/bootsplash/default/config/bootsplash-[your_resolution].cfg 
...system now froozen...
