Description Walter Iglesias 2008-02-28 18:53:02 UTC
In "/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/es" the line:

  key <AE04> { [         4,     dollar,   dead_tilde,       dollar ] };

I think it must say:

  key <AE04>  { [         4,     dollar,   asciitilde,       dollar ] };

In spanish language it is not necesary compose '~ + any_other_letter' (in polish perhaps) so, it is not necesary a dead key in that place. I don't know if somebody includes this change to spanish keyboard because it is used by other laguage (I know that catalan don't need this feature). Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

It happens to me in gentoo only. It is keyboard input. And in this distro in particular is very dificult to configure the keyboard. Do you think it is trivial? Perhaps you have a machine that understands your voice.

Fixed in newer versions of xkeyboard-config.

And for the record, this particular bug should indeed have been reported to FreeDesktop as that's where xkeyboard-config is being developed. Fixing bugs upstream benefits everyone and not just Gentoo.

Thanks
