revdep-rebuild shows no problems, in particular with dbus and hal, so I don't know what is causing the libtool warnings. I guess they are related, but I'm not sure.

please give me the output of:
emerge -pv gnutls vlc

this is really weird:

$ emerge  -pv gnutls

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R   ] net-libs/gnutls-2.2.2  USE="lzo nls zlib -bindist -doc -guile" 0 kB

and what's the output of the command:
$ strings /usr/lib/libgnutls.so | grep gcry_control

Here I get:
gcry_control

also, could you please attach config.log that is in the build dir ? Perhaps it will help

The only difference I can see is the doc USE flag. What's weird about it?

Same here.
Comment 11 Alexis Ballier gentoo-dev 2008-02-29 10:56:57 UTC
well, my first thoughts were wrong: I thought that gnutls was supposed to export gcry_control. In fact, the gnutls useflag really requires libgcrypt since that's it which exports gcry_control. It was a bad idea to have two useflags for that, so I merged them.
This should fix the build problems.

Thanks for the report !

Comment 13 elyahou 2008-02-29 11:48:09 UTC
ok, compiled with the libgcrypt USE...

Now, one need to add those infos to the ebuild...
Comment 14 elyahou 2008-02-29 11:49:30 UTC
erf, already added...:)
