Initrd creates CPIO files.  It would be nice if one could pull these apart and put them together with the install CD.  As far as I can tell, cpio is not on the minimal 2007.0 install CD.  I realize once you add the stage cpio is present.

This functionality is not required for an install, so it doesn't go on the minimal. If you really need this, use the LiveCD.
