Description Tiago 2008-02-27 19:24:57 UTC
Note: I'm not sure this is the same as bug #205442, so I opened a new one. Feel free to mark as duplicate if you think so.

The problem: net-mail/freepops-0.6.2 doesn't compile because of a missing symbol:

make[1]: *** [freepopsd] Error 1
make: *** [src] Error 2

The installed version of lua is 5.1.3-r1. I tried recompiling lua and then emerging freepops again -- same same. I also tried emerging the previous version of freepops (0.2.5) -- same error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

hi,

i assume the right version was 0.2.6

i just had this error too, it looks like:
"(...)Function luaL_openlib was replaced by luaL_register(...)"
If you use the flag "deprecated" with lua, freepops will emerge fine.

Correct, my bad :) I'll fix the subject line for future reference.

Thanks, it worked here as well. But then I suppose the real bug is that the freepops ebuild does not complain that lua was emerged without the deprecated flag?
Comment 5 Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-03-03 07:44:42 UTC
i'd say, strictly speaking, the bug is that freepops doesn't use the undeprecated API of LUA
Comment 6 Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-03 13:23:00 UTC
Notified freepops author. It will be fixed in next release. In the meantime I've added portage checks for the deprecated USE flag with lua.

Thanks for your help and the bug report.
