Description Giovani M. Faccin 2008-02-26 18:23:53 UTC
I'm installing a brand new computer. Upon trying to emerge scipy (tried all ebuilds), compilation fails with what seens to me like a missing dependency from the ebuild. This is the error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "setup.py", line 55, in <module>
    setup_package()
  File "setup.py", line 28, in setup_package
    from numpy.distutils.core import setup
ImportError: No module named numpy.distutils.core

Perhaps another ebuild that contains this "numpy.distutils.core" should be added as dependency for scipy?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge scipy on a brand new install - amd64
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Compilation fais with missing dependency

Expected Results:
Program should emerge all dependencies before compiling.

Erm, this already depends on numpy... Perhaps re-emerge it?
Comment 2 Giovani M. Faccin 2008-02-26 18:52:18 UTC
Even if I re-emerge numpy the problem still happens. Numpy itself is emerged without complaints. Perhaps the problem lies in the numpy ebuild then?

Post emerge -pv numpy and emerge --info output.

gfaccin@sonja ~ $ emerge -pv numpy

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
