Description anton 2008-02-26 15:02:45 UTC
start-stop-daemon thinks that spamassassin died on startup, So /etc/init.d/spamd fails.

-------------------------------------------------------
 * Starting spamd ...
 * start-stop-daemon: /usr/sbin/spamd died
 * Failed to start spamd                        [ !! ]
 * ERROR: spamd failed to start
-------------------------------------------------------

But, doing a "ps -Af |grep spamd" shows that spamassassin is running in background.

-------------------------------------------------------
root     21080     1 39 22:56 ?        00:00:01 /usr/sbin/spamd -d -r /var/run/spamd/spamd.pid -m 5 -c -H
root     21082 21080  0 22:56 ?        00:00:00 spamd child
root     21083 21080  0 22:56 ?        00:00:00 spamd child
root     21085  6681  0 22:56 pts/0    00:00:00 grep --colour=auto spamd
-------------------------------------------------------

Most likely a pid dir permission problem similar to this: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70124

But, I've tried setting the pid's dir to 777 and same results.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge mail-filter/spamassassin-3.2.4
2. /etc/init.d/spamd start

emerge --info? /etc/conf.d/spamd settings?
