I have MSI notebook amd64 with ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 (on label on NB): # lspci -s 01:05.0 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS485 [Radeon Xpress 1100 IGP] # lspci -s 01:05.0 -vn 01:05.0 0300: 1002:5975 (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Subsystem: 1462:a422 Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 255, IRQ 17 Memory at d0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] I/O ports at 6800 [size=256] Memory at ff2f0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] Expansion ROM at ff2c0000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2 I use internal LCD 1280x800 and external LCD monitor ViewSonic VP201b (1600x1200 resolution). Server aborting I test compile ati-drivers with gcc-4.2.3 (bug #201100), but without any efect.
Bugs about binary blobs go upstream since there's obviously nothing we could fix. I.e., bug ATI/AMD.

are you having any luck with the latest drivers?
(In reply to comment #6) > are you having any luck with the latest drivers? > Firs my test of last ati-drivers-8.501 is crash with external monitor. I will make any next tests and them send report to "Linux Crew Driver Feedback Program" at ati.com.
(In reply to comment #7) > (In reply to comment #6) > > are you having any luck with the latest drivers? Last ati-drivers-8.501 is working but with Option "NoDRI" "1" only. Without them I have the same problem as described in bug 229209.
This bug is reporting the same problem as bug 228871. Read the bug 228871 for more information.
