I would like to have a directory, example /etc/portage.d/ which can contain executable scripts like debian has. Thoses scripts should be execute whenever "emerge" is invoked. Maybe special subdirs like "search" "merge" "all" "update" and what actions are implemented. Maybe the possibility to decide to have post and pre-run scripts ? Usefull fpor example for localepurge, prelink, touching all files in PORTAGE_OVERLAY and so on. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Putting a hold on feature requests for portage as they are drowning out the bugs. Most of these features should be available in the next major version of portage. But for the time being, they are just drowning out the major bugs and delaying the next version's progress. Any bugs that contain patches and any bugs for etc-update or dispatch-conf can be reopened. Sorry, I'm just not good enough with bugzilla. ;)
Released in 2.0.53 as pre/post phase hooks.
