Can you post a build.log in english, not all of us speak German. :)
Set LC_ALL=C in the terminal you compile systemsettings in.

I did some more research on this error systemsettings only breaks with qt-4.3.4 installed. With stable qt-4.3.2-r1 everything works fine for me.
Comment 6 Andreas Piening 2008-03-06 11:53:26 UTC
Hi Gilbert,

how did you manage kde-base/systemsettings-4.0.1 to compile against qt-4.3.2-r1?
Systemsettings directly depends on ">=x11-libs/qt-4.3.3:4".

emerge --ask --nodeps systemsettings

But if you do this, you have to build all packets like this. I have to admit it is very annoying, but it works for me, so far without any problems.
Comment 8 Andreas Piening 2008-03-07 19:42:28 UTC
Ok,
seems that the dependency on ">=x11-libs/qt-4.3.3:4" is not existing in this specific manner, it merely depends on >=qt-4.3 or something like that.
Than the solution should be to correct the dependency in ALL kde-4-ebuilds, to the specific qt-version which is really needed. Am I right?
I think the package-maintainer should be asked if there is a reason, why 4.3.3 is needed, or if it works perfectly well on the older versions of the 4.0-tree. On the kde-website, I don't find any other information than KDE needs qt-4.

I don't know how to proceed from here, can some of the devs jump in here? Should I contact the package-maintainer direclty with this question?

I remember tightening the Qt4 dependency because back then, the latest version fixes numerous bugs in KDE 4. To prevent users hitting bugs that are already fixed in a newer Qt version I upped the dependency, before we added KDE 4.0.0.

Also, you shouldn't be using --nodeps.
Comment 10 Andreas Piening 2008-03-07 21:05:27 UTC
Hi Ingmar,

this makes sense. At the moment kde 4.0 does not compile into a usable state for me with the latest qt4 (and so for others).
I agree, that --nodeps is not the perfect solution, but I don't see another solution than lowering the dependency to the latest stable qt-release.
If there will be a 4.02 ebuild-set in the next few days that fixes this issue, it would be perfectly fine. But at the moment I would love a running kde-4 with maybe a few qt-bugs much more, than a non compiling version which locks me out.

Would you mind testing this for 4.1.2.

If this wont occur close it or i will close it as fixed.
Comment 13 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-30 14:09:03 UTC
Ok 15 days is enougt. There is new version in the tree which does not suffer with this issue. Also old version was removed. So closing as fixed.
