I've tried using rc1, rc3, and rc4 stage3 installs. with each one, g++ seg 
faults when I 'emerge x11-libs/qt' when compiling.

Can you give your segfault log, and the output of "emerge info" please?

I originally reported the error. Traced to bad mainboard.
