Looks like the configure of jabberd2-2.1.21 doesnt find libidn-1.0.* Works well with libidn-0.6.9.* Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge libidn 2. emerge jabberd2 Actual Results: configure fails
Post the actual compile errors; also post emerge --info output as the bug page told you.
Cant post the compile errors, because I dont have them anymore. Was a few days ago and today I thought that it wouldnt hurt to post it here. Was not much to see anyways. Configure just checked for libidn and did not find it and then stopped of course. emerge --info Portage 2.1.4.4 (default-linux/x86/2007.0/desktop, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.16-gentoo-r9 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.16-gentoo-r9 i686 Pentium II (Klamath) Timestamp of tree: Mon, 18 Feb 2008 09:30:06 +0000 distcc 2.18.3 i386-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p17-r1 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.4 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r6 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.10-r5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r1 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.4.3-r4, 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.23-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i386-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i386-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/bind" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache distlocks metadata-transfer sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/download/gentoo-mirror/ " MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="acpi apache2 arts berkdb bitmap-fonts cairo cdr cli cracklib crypt dbus devfs dri dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode esd evo firefox fortran gd gdbm gif gpm gstreamer hal iconv isdnlog jpeg logrotate mad math midi mikmod mp3 mpeg mudflap mysql nagios-dns nagios-ping nagios-ssh ncurses nls nptl nptlonly ogg opengl openmp oss pam pcre pdf perl png pppd python qt3support qt4 quicktime readline reflection samba sdl session spell spl ssl tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode vim-syntax vorbis win32codecs x86 xml xorg xv zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1 emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="access auth_basic authn_dbm authn_anon auth_digest authz_host alias file_cache echo charset_lite cache disk_cache mem-cache ext_filter deflate filter mime_magic cern_meta expires headers usertrack unique_id proxy proxy_connect proxy_ftp proxy_http info include dav dav_fs vhost_alias speling rewrite log_config logio env setenvif mime status autoindex asis negotiation dir actions userdir authn_alias authn_dbd authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_owner authz_user" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="apm ark chips cirrus cyrix dummy fbdev glint i128 i740 i810 imstt mach64 mga neomagic nsc nv r128 radeon rendition s3 s3virge savage siliconmotion sis sisusb tdfx tga trident tseng v4l vesa vga via vmware voodoo" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARG
Now depends on =libidn-0.6.
Can we get this re-looked at, or should I open a new bug? I have libidn-1.0-r1 installed (it's the current amd64 stable libidn) and with a recent emerge sync, I now get a conflict between kopete and jabberd2 because kopete is pulling in stable libidn (1.0-r1) and jabberd2 now wants only 0.6*. I edited the jabberd2 ebuild to make the dependency on net-dns/libidn only and it builds fine with libidn 1.0-r1. Basically, the fix to this SPR breaks my emerge due to the conflicts between kopete and jabberd2, and the original reporter's problem is a WORKSFORME type of situation.
Same problem here, when calculating world dependencies, emerge breaks with: Calculating world dependencies \ !!! Multiple versions within a single package slot have been !!! pulled into the dependency graph: net-dns/libidn:0 ('installed', '/', 'net-dns/libidn-0.6.9-r1', 'nomerge') pulled in by ('installed', '/', 'net-im/jabberd2-2.1.21', 'nomerge') ('ebuild', '/', 'net-dns/libidn-1.0-r1', 'merge') pulled in by ('installed', '/', 'net-misc/whois-4.7.24', 'nomerge') ('installed', '/', 'kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.8-r3', 'nomerge') moreover, I cannot reproduce the bug mentioned by the OP: having installed libidn-1.0-r1, I can compile jabberd2 without problems, if I undo the change made by comment #3: # eix -c libidn [I] net-dns/libidn (1.0-r1@03/12/08) [...] # ebuild /usr/local/portage/net-im/jabberd2/jabberd2-2.1.21-r1.ebuild compile [...] checking for Libidn version >= 0.3.0... yes [...] >>> Source compiled. So, I'd opt for reopening this issue and reverting the fix, unless we have a complete error report showing the opposite...
