Description Philipp Wehrheim 2008-02-19 12:07:00 UTC
The xdirectfb x11 server is not compiling nether the xdirectfb-1.0_rc5-r1 currently stable nor the mask xdirectfb-1.0_rc5-r2 version.

Both ebuild end during the call of "make World" with:

make[2]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/x11-base/xdirectfb-1.0_rc5-r1/work/xc/include'
rm -f *.CKP *.ln *.BAK *.bak *.o core errs ,* *~ *.a .emacs_* tags TAGS make.log MakeOut "#"*
cleaning in include/bitmaps...
make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/x11-base/xdirectfb-1.0_rc5-r1/work/xc/include/bitmaps'
make[3]: *** No rule to make target `clean'. Stop.
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/x11-base/xdirectfb-1.0_rc5-r1/work/xc/include/bitmaps'
make[2]: *** [clean] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/x11-base/xdirectfb-1.0_rc5-r1/work/xc/include'
make[1]: *** [clean] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/x11-base/xdirectfb-1.0_rc5-r1/work/xc'
make: *** [World] Error 2

So it seems that the function clean is not defined in the Makefile ?!?!

Thanks

Reproducible: Always

You should use the CVS version, because the last release is too old.
</snip>

Latest release upstream is 1.6.3 from 2001 (!!!). Wonderful, how about killing this corpse?

Yeah, that'd be perfectly fine if they actually released something, which they haven't for 7 years.

5 years yo. last release was 2003. ;P

bugs don't go straight to treecleaners. don't abuse the process. upstream is alive and responsive. this bug is new. give people a chance to work on it before you go all kick happy.

Voting. Broken, unmaintained ->

+1

+1, there does seem to be activity on the homepage but with no maintainer and broke, remove.

"Furthermore, newer technologies will remain closed source until they can be fully used and would take a lot of time to be copied, especially regarding Water, which is already quite different from what you get in git!"
