Description Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2008-02-15 23:42:29 UTC
wmmemfree tries to start, but then crashes with a floating point exception.
re-emerging didn't help (as I had expected).
The bug might be caused by a kernel update (?), I didn't notice, it stopped working, it must be in a 1-2 week range.

log of crashing x11-plugins/wmmemfree-0.7-r1
Comment 2 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2008-02-15 23:52:54 UTC
The first machine uses xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r5 and fluxbox-1.0_rc3_p4983

It also crashes on Kernel 2.6.21-r1, xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r1 and twm.
Comment 3 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2008-02-16 00:15:11 UTC
On a third machine it still runs fine, that one runs 2.6.23-gentoo-r6, x11-base/xorg-x11-7.2 and xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r5.

Strange. My (very) wild guess right now is some kernel option...
Comment 4 Michele Noberasco (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-16 09:31:11 UTC
I was able to reproduce your issue. The program crashes with a division by zero on systems where there is no swap enabled. Added a new revision with a trivial patch that fixes the issue. Marked it stable for x86.

Arches, please test and mark stable.
Comment 5 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2008-02-16 14:24:38 UTC
It is stable for me.
Thanks!
Comment 6 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2008-02-17 17:05:31 UTC
Oh wait; for some reason the swap status bar is always "full", whereas the percentage is shown correctly.
I've re-enabled swap on that machine (I had typo in /etc/conf.d/dmcrypt):

/etc/fstab:
/dev/mapper/crypt-swap  swap            swap            sw                      0 0

/etc/conf.d/dmcrypt:
swap=crypt-swap
source='/dev/hda3'
Comment 7 nixnut (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-17 17:22:53 UTC
ppc stable
Comment 8 Brent Baude (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-18 18:39:49 UTC
already ppc64 stable? nothing to do here as far as i can tell
Comment 9 Michele Noberasco (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-18 22:48:11 UTC
swap status bar is empty for me when swap is disabled...
Fixed for me, feel free to comment :-)
Comment 10 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2008-02-18 23:07:00 UTC
[craig@nuw ~]$ free -m
             total used free shared buffers cached
Mem:           503        497          6          0          4        150
-/+ buffers/cache:        342        161
Swap:          494         85        408

The swap percentage says 17%, but the bar is full. I'm still using settings from #6.

You were right, there was a missing parenthesis in my patch, which I fixed. Wait a little so that the patch spread on to the mirrors, then emerge the package again...
