rsync.netpimpz.com rsync6.netpimpz.com has been running for quite some time, noticed the GWN talk again about rsync bandwidth, also noticed my server was not on the list. Please add it. rsync6.netpimpz.com is ipv6. Host IPV4 : rsync.netpimpz.com (168.215.173.144) Host IPV6 : rsync6.netpimpz.com(2001:470:1f00:264::1003) Contact : raven@netpimpz.com (281) 869-5117 Houston, TX Bandwidth : Time Warner Telecom Full T1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
The last rsync was "Tue, 03 Jun 2003 03:00:00 +0000" and should have been 03:30. Can you check for errors and confirm that ntp is running? Thanks.
Ok, ntp was not running in startup. If fixed that. The cronjob is set for : 0,30 * * * *
I've added 168.215.173.144 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine and then add it to the rotation. At that time, the IPV6 host will be accessible to the public. Also, I'd like to verify the max users, CPU and RAM. Thanks.
Ram is 512mb CPU is Dual Pentium 400mhz max users is set to 10.
Changed the cronjob to : rsync://rsync1.us.gentoo.org
168.215.173.144 is now rsync19.us.gentoo.org. As soon as DNS catches up, you should start seeing some traffic. Regarding the IPV6 address (2001:470:1f00:264::1003), what is assumed to be between the :: ? I've subscribed <raven@netpimpz.com> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume). This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
zero's are assumed between the :: brackets.
Sorry for letting this slip through the cracks. I just tried adding the IPv6 address, but the interface expects eight 16 bit hex values. I'm not familiar with IPv6... could you clarify the exact address? I tried 2001:0470:1f00:0264:0000:1003, but it didn't like that. Thanks.
2001:0470:1f00:0264:0000:0000:0000:1003 Is the full address, with IPV6 you can always assume that between empty :: there are the amount of zero's you need to complete the 8 values.
Thanks for the info. The IPv6 address should be active now. I've added it to the rsync.us and rsync.namerica rotations.
