Did some other kernel version work, or not?
Comment 2 dt 2008-02-13 02:53:29 UTC
Nope, hasn't worked yet. Been trying since 2.6.19 and with app-laptop/acpi4asus (which is now depreciated).
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-13 07:05:43 UTC
Looks like some to take upstream then. ;)
Comment 4 dt 2008-02-13 07:52:56 UTC
How do I do that? At kernel.org?
Comment 5 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2008-02-24 21:52:46 UTC
Similar bug?

Comment 6 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-24 23:02:23 UTC
Looks similar but there is not really any solid info there. Also ACPI is so machine-dependent that it needs to be taken on a case-by-case basis.
This is because the ACPI code tables effectively define the code needed to query the lid state, and the ACPI tables vary drastically from system to system.

Are there any BIOS updates available for your laptop?
Can you reproduce this on the latest development kernel, currently v2.6.26-rc5?
Comment 8 dt 2008-06-08 00:46:30 UTC
There was a BIOS update from late Feb but it says only
"Fix system would lag while we were copying data from SD card to HDD".

I am scared to use it as it is a Windows Vista only utility and trying something like that on my BIOS from wine is like... uuuuhh no thanks.

My kernel is 2.6.24-gentoo-r5, but I will try with your suggested kernel as soon as I can.
Comment 9 dt 2008-06-21 01:27:15 UTC
Just tried with vanilla-sources-2.6.26-rc6 and still no go.
Comment 10 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2008-07-05 20:16:26 UTC
What graphical driver are you using?
Comment 11 dt 2008-07-07 17:43:08 UTC
ati-drivers
Comment 12 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2008-07-13 01:20:52 UTC
Some have reported success when using the vesa driver. Would you mind testing with this driver?
Comment 13 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2008-08-19 17:21:31 UTC
Can you test with a development kernel please.

git-sources-2.6.27_rc3-rX or later if available.

Yep, sorry for late response, been traveling my ass off. I will try with latest dev kernel as soon as I got a day free.
