I frequently run multiple emerges in parallel, and have no problems avoiding the issues this can occasionally cause. However, I also tail -F /var/log/emerge.log to watch the progress, and it can become quite confusing since there's no way to tell which messages belong together and which are from separate emerges. Hmmm... so; that will break quite a couple of third-party tools/scripts which parse the log for sure - for the sake of unsupported emerge usage? That info becomes completely useless as soon as the emerge is finished, why should this be logged in such place?
I think we need to replace emerge.log with another format at some point, something that's extendable, easier to parse by tools and contains more information. XML anyone?
