Description Martin von Gagern 2003-05-13 11:49:34 UTC
I tried to install gentoo on a SMP system based on a Tyan Tiger 200 board with
onboard Promise FastTrak 100 software RAID. So I tried booting the SMP kernel
and loading the pdcraid module. This tells me there is no such device. ataraid
itself seems to load OK. The whole thing using the non-SMP gentoo kernel worked
fine, too, so this is how I got my system up & running - in twice the time...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot "smp"
2. "modprobe ataraid" (optional)
3. "modprobe pdcraid"

Actual Results:
Something like "no such device", if you really need the exact words I'll try
this again, please contact me.

Expected Results:
Load the module, find my controller, add /dev/ataraid/disc0/*

Oh, I forgot: my emerged system with vanilla 2.4.20 SMP kernel and compiled-in pdcraid works fine. So it is possible.

the smp kernel is 2.4.21_pre for the added hardware support, but
the release used also broke some ata raid drivers.

old bug, reopen if necessary
