Description Budanov "r0g3r" Eugene 2008-02-08 06:51:09 UTC
After updating xorg 7.2 to 7.3 in Gentoo i found this bug: If i try to load any game which using opengl engine it freeze and utilizing 100% cpu. But if run any movie before the game all works good. Or i can kill the application, when it freeze open any movie, close it and run the game again. It works too.

There is no dependencies from video driver. Using ati and radeon driver give the same result.

OS: Gentoo Linux 2007.0
xorg 7.3
video: Radeon 9500 Pro

Steps for reproduce this bug below:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load X session
2. Try to run any opengl application (f.ex: Quake 3 Arena)
3. Kill application when it freeze
4. run mplayer
5. run opengl application again

roger2000@yandex.ru: I told you last time, do NOT assign bugs for packages to the Bugzilla product. It is ONLY for problems with the bugs.gentoo.org site. You should use the 'Gentoo Linux' product for bugs like this.

Attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log output, and also video drivers versions you tried.
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-08 07:47:40 UTC
And also xorg.conf please.

Can you attach Xorg.0.log with the opensource driver as well?

It very interesing. Now OpenGL works in open source driver (i run tuxracer for testing). But i running X with Option "Composite" "Disable" and Option "RENDER" "Disable". At the first time this options is absent.

So, does xf86-video-ati work w/ composite, or neither of them works, or?

as i understood opengl normally work in xf86-video-ati without composite.

You'd be better off taking this to ATI/AMD, I guess...

It is already been fixed upstream. You will just have to wait like every other user for the official release before you can test it.
