Please attach full dmesg output from after seeing such errors. The first error is the one that is important, and I think the one you pasted is not the first. Your shorewall errors indicate that nf_conntrack_amanda is the first module that fails, so I would expect the first error to be of format "nf_conntrack_amanda: Unknown symbol FOO"

How about you do this: From a clean boot, without any init scripts trying to load those modules, just run the following single command: # modprobe nf_conntrack_amanda I expect it will fail with the same error message on the console. But the interesting part will be looking in dmesg - do any errors appear at all? I suspect not - but that's the interesting part.

The errors appear in dmesg only when loading nf_nat_amanda.
Do you still encounter this problem on 2.6.25? If so, could you try using insmod to load nf_conntrack_amanda? You will need the full absolute path to that module, which you can find within the "modprobe -l" output. Please also examine dmesg after trying. Let's see what happens then...
Feel free to reopen once you've had the chance to perform the operations outlined in comment #14.
I'm not compiling that module anymore, so shorewall doesn't load it and no errors are displayed. I hope I won't need to use amanda. Thank you
