Older versions of dev-libs/boost or even pdns-recursor downgrade might solve the issue. Pdns-recursor stopped working here at some point in the past; I suspect when I upgraded to glibc-2.7. We traced it to the stack allocation. The recursor by default allocated 200k for its stack, but now needs more. The recommended setting is: stack-size=300000 in /etc/powerdns/recursor.conf if you are seeing the same issue.
