when was the last time you "emerge sync" ?

do that and then try again.
Comment 2 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-13 09:34:44 UTC
seems to be a problem in the thirdparty mirrors.. edit /usr/portage/profiles/thirdpartymirros , find the line starting with 'gnome' and remove the ftp site with 2.0.0 in it's URL . Then try again and report back if it worked.
Comment 3 Jason(Teufel) 2003-05-13 15:00:37 UTC
Tried both of these still didnt work. Got to looking around. Did a "rm -rf /usr/tmp/portage" then redid the rsync was able to emerge gdm. *shrug*
Comment 4 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-13 20:05:00 UTC
How could /var/tmp/portage possibly affect this ?

I just assume you couldnt connect to any of the right servers, hit the wrong 3rd party mirror and errored out.

Anyway closing.
