Description Alvaro Figueroa (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-12 22:28:29 UTC
With a recently bootstraped system (exactly right after the scripts/bootstrap.sh
from the code listing 8.7 mentioned at
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-sparc-install.xml) I run "emerge -f
some_packages" and if some of the packages of there dependences are perl modules
or java related, they call to perl and to java-config, even if they don't exist.

I know that someone will probably anwer "Wait until the emerge system is
complete", but one should be able to just download stuff while wainting, right?
Also, emerge should know better than to call binaries that don't exist.

Thanks for filing a bug.

Have you seen the updated installation documentation at:
http://cvs.gentoo.org/~blademan/sparc-install-doc.html

There are newer CD images and stage tarballs available. Please see if your problem persists.

Thanks,

Can you give some examples of the packages you were attempting to fetch?
