The last rsync was "Tue, 03 Jun 2003 03:00:00 +0000" and should
have been 03:30. Can you check for errors and confirm that ntp
is running?

Thanks.
Comment 2 Mikhail 2003-06-02 23:39:38 UTC
Server time wasn't set to ntp, so probably that's why. Now it has been set to ntp (with
nist1-dc.glassey.com). So hopefully this corrects the problem.

Comment 3 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-06-03 11:23:29 UTC
I've added 66.227.96.57 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org.
Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org
and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server
for a couple days to make sure things are working fine and then add
it to the rotation.

Thanks.

Done - Now syncing with rsync1.us.gentoo.org

Your mirror is updating 5 minutes early (which would in theory make for a 25 minute stale mirror).

Jul 17 18:55:40 eagle rsyncd[7839]: rsync on gentoo-portage/ from beer.ux6.net (66.227.96.57)
Jul 17 19:25:35 eagle rsyncd[10984]: rsync on gentoo-portage/ from beer.ux6.net (66.227.96.57)
Jul 17 19:55:35 eagle rsyncd[12001]: rsync on gentoo-portage/ from beer.ux6.net (66.227.96.57)

Can you double check you are running ntp and check your time source?

Our apologies for the delay in getting back to you. There have been some recent transitions and a backlog of bugs to fix. We hope to get you added as soon as you're running straight.

Cheers!

ok, it appears was problem with system's clock - it got out of sync.
Now got time from clock.fmt.he.net via netdate
I have setup cron job to get time every 6 hours, so it should be pretty in sync now with time
server. I do not want to run ntpd on the server itself, so using netdate every 6 hours should be
enough.

Please check now if I'm syncing in the right period of time.
Comment 7 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-07-29 16:00:03 UTC
I'm adding this back on my monitor list. If anyone else is already
monitoring it, let me know.
Comment 8 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-08-05 20:05:03 UTC
I've added the server as rsync9.us.gentoo.org. Please update your motd to
include that info. I've also subscribed miha@ghuug.org to our low volume
mirrors mailing list.

Thanks for supportig Gentoo.
Comment 9 Mikhail 2003-08-05 20:41:58 UTC
Peter,

Thanks. I will modify rsync's motd now and note that I'm official gentoo mirror.

ALso, I've checked DNS and rsync9.us.gentoo.org is still not added to your round-robin dns.
Could you check on this?

regards,
Mikhail.
Comment 10 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-08-05 21:23:37 UTC
Perhaps its just taking some time to propagate. Seems to be working OK here.
Let me know if the problem persists.

# host rsync9.us.gentoo.org
rsync9.us.gentoo.org has address 66.227.96.57

Peter,

Here is what I mean:
(sorry for long output)
miha@home miha $ nslookup -sil rsync.us.gentoo.org
Server: 192.168.0.1
Address: 192.168.0.1#53

miha@home miha $

all is fine, however:

miha@home miha $ nslookup -sil rsync.us.gentoo.org|grep 66.227.96.57
miha@home miha $

meaning that 66.227.96.57 is not added to round-robin dns.

Woops. Looks like I forgot to add it. It's in there now, so should
show up soon.
