After having emerged gimp-1.3.14 and xsane-0.90, when i try to launch gimp-1.3
the following error appears on the console: 

(/usr/lib/gimp/1.3/plug-ins/xsane)
attempted to install a procedure with invalid UTF-8 strings.


Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install gimp-1.3.14
2. Install xsane-0.90
3. Launch gimp

Actual Results:  
1 . gimp takes really long to launch

2. The following message appears on the terminal
(/usr/lib/gimp/1.3/plug-ins/xsane)
attempted to install a procedure with invalid UTF-8 strings.

3. The Xsane plugin doesn't appear on the gimp Acquire Menu

Expected Results:  
The plugin should work

I don't recall that xsane plugin is supported on the gimp unstable, I need some time to try myself.

Please consider that the package issue you are reporting is with a masked ebuild and maybe won't fix anytime soon.

Please consider using xsane standalone or with gimp-1.2

There is no gimp-1.3 support for xsane yet.
changed the xsane ebuild a bit.
